Blue-winged Parrot
The Blue-winged Parrot is found mainly in Tasmania and Victoria favouring habitats from coastal to semi-arid zones. It is recognisable by its slender form with olive green colouring, blue wings and tail. The Blue-winged Parrot can be migratory, leaving Tasmania in the cooler months and returning in August-October, there is also a small population that remain in Tasmania over winter.
The Tasmanian Purple Star is found in alpine sedge land, coniferous alpine, bolster heath and deciduous heathlands. The flower is purple but can look almost black and occasionally be yellow. It grows on rocks and is often found on gravel slopes or in crevices.
