Swift Parrot
The Swift Parrot is a migratory parrot found in south-eastern Australia. It is identified by its bright green colour, offset with patches of red, yellow and blue. The Swift Parrot breeds in Tasmania during summer, then migrates to mainland Australia for the cooler months. They re-use nesting sites and have a proclivity for blue gum. The ongoing impact from habitat loss and degradation continues to have a significant impact on the Swift Parrot, leading to its status as an endangered species. More information can be found on the Tasmanian Government’s threatened species website.
Billy Buttons are a perennial plant, recognisable for their sphere-like yellow flowers. They grow naturally in swampy terrain and are resistant to weather extremes.
